We are currently in the process of expanding our family through adoption! You can read about the beginning of our journey here.
June 14, 2016: FAC approves our application and holds a spot for us as clients. I was in California for work, but Nick and I talked and were 100% in agreement about pursuing adoption with FAC.
June 27, 2016: Let the paperwork begin-we are officially under contract with FAC!
July 7, 2016: Holston will complete our home study.
August 5, 2016: Our profile book is done.
August 19, 2016: All of our paperwork is complete, except for the clearance from the state of Maryland. They received our request, but take six weeks to process and mail back. Tennessee completed it in six minutes online and Idaho sent it back in two weeks.
September 28, 2016: Maryland mailed our clearance the week before, but it didn’t make it to our social worker. They won’t email forms, but finally agreed to fax it to our social worker so we won’t have to wait.
October 6, 2016: We are home study approved!! I asked our social worker if we could have our home study by this day as I was leaving for Australia for work. Before I left for the airport, I went by their office and picked it up. I wanted that paperwork in my hands!
October 7, 2016: All paperwork is mailed to FAC for them to process.
October 11, 2016: FAC has our paperwork and will process so we can become an active family.
October 12, 2016: We are shocked to have FAC contact us with a expectant mother profile. I’m in Australia and have to deal with the time difference to get in touch with Nick. We typically wouldn’t be presented before becoming active, but this was the second round of profiles going to the expectant mother.
October 17, 2016: We have our first experience with hearing we weren’t chosen.
