Somehow four years have sped by and we have a FOUR year old! I’m in denial that we only have one more year with him before he starts school. It doesn’t feel possible. I have probably said this every year, but I absolutely love this age (most of the time). His personality is so funny and we love hearing the things he tells us.
Carson, your imagination always makes me laugh and we love hearing the stories you narrate as you play. We are constantly amazed at the big words you throw out, like “functional,” “massive” and “frustrating.” You told me recently that you were “so frustrated!” and I have a feeling I was being quoted.
You have really come out of your shell this year, especially at school. You definitely still have a shy side, but I’m seeing that slip away more. You completed K-3 this year and can say the ABC’s, count and write your name. However, you like to pretend you don’t know any of that when we ask. I’ll ask what you did at school and you say “nothing.” I didn’t think I would hear that until you were a teenager!
Your favorite thing in the world right now is to be outside! And the more dirt and sand you can find to play in, the better. You love nothing more than to play with your Daddy. You absolutely think he hung the moon and are all over him the minute he gets home. I love watching the two of you together-you are EXACTLY alike (it’s scary). You build “creations” out of your legos and I’ll be shocked if you aren’t an engineer like Daddy.
You love to eat at Chick-fil-a and that’s where you took me recently on a date. I love having one-on-one time with you because you just talk and keep me entertained. You have a southern accent, just like Mama.
You love going to Gigi’s, Heather’s, Kayla’s and Brandi’s. You get to spend lots of time with your cousins now and you are asking when you can go back the minute we leave.
You are the BEST big brother! You absolutely love your baby brothers and are so sweet with them. Although we constantly have to tell you to be gentle-you can’t wait until they can wrestle and play.
Your fashion sense is still as interesting as ever! You love big, tall socks and pull them as high as you can. It doesn’t matter that it’s 80 degrees outside….you insist on rocking those socks every day. You can also still fall asleep anywhere…like on a recent shopping trip to Home Goods. You just laid your hand down and took a nap! You also take lots of things with you to bed…whenever we check on you, you have usually gathered shoes, toys or guns.
You definitely have a temper that likes to come out lately when you don’t get your way (I say those are Daddy’s genes, but he points to me). So we are working on how we act. Some days go better than others!
But you are the sweetest soul and love and kiss your brothers (and us when you take the time to slow down). You talk about baby sister coming and how you will kiss her too. There is nothing sweeter than your little voice saying “mama” and I’ll miss that so much when I become regular ole Mom one day. I’m so proud to call you mine and can’t wait to see what this next year brings with you!
