Carson James, you are three! (you actually have been for over a month now. I apologize for my tardiness). You have so many funny characteristics that come together to create this amazing little boy that we love. There are parts of you that are straight boy-you love searching for worms and snails; any puddle you see must be jumped in; playing outside is your favorite activity; and you spend your time playing with dinosaurs, cars, and trucks.
There’s another side of you though that is a little shy and cautious. If there is a large group of people you aren’t around all the time or with total strangers, you tend to stay quiet and hang back on playgrounds. Your teachers say you are a quiet little guy at school, which is so funny because you never stop talking at home! You were watching TV with Daddy recently and he had to pause it every minute because you had a question about every single animal. When he started laughing, you asked him what was so funny. You keep us entertained with your thoughts and comments!
Your love of animals, cars, and firetrucks is still strong. We were on the trail last week and had stopped to let you watch a fire truck. You told Gigi, “when I grow up bigger, I’m going to be a fireman!” It wouldn’t surprise me if this turns out to be true because you have had an obsession for firetrucks that isn’t going away.
The obsession with your cowboy boots is still going strong, although now they share the limelight with your flip flops. Most nights you go to bed wearing your flip flops, black gym shorts like Daddy’s and a t-shirt. Sometimes you even have on sunglasses or a hat to complete the look. You are ready for the day when you get up! The black shorts have replaced your pajamas right now for your favorite clothing item.
Speaking of sleep, you can fall asleep anywhere, like a Target cart or the bottom of a Kohl’s cart. This happens on a regular basis.
We never know from day to day what will strike your fancy, but something always does and you cling to it until you move on. You have certain clothes you prefer, toys you want and nothing will change your mind. You even prefer to sleep on the floor sometimes and will pull all your covers off the bed and make a bed. We just roll with it and let you do your thing.
Your favorite TV show and toys right now are Dino Trucks and you take Ty everywhere you go, even to bed. We often will hear a dinosaur growling over the monitor when you are going to bed. My favorite words you say are, “wipe” for white, “gobbles” for goggles, “fwim” for swim, “Yiyi” for Lily, and “skunkscreen” for sunscreen. You have also started referring to us as Mom and Dad and I’ll be honest…it kills me! I still get Mama and Mommy, but it’s not as often.
I told you this weekend that I was excited to spend the day with you because you are my favorite little guy. You looked at me and said, “I’m not a little guy, I’m growed up, Mommy.” You are growing up and are turning into a sweet, funny little guy that Daddy and I are so proud of. We love you, Carson James!
