I haven’t done CrossFit in months, but when I saw a post about the “the Murph Challenge,” I knew I wanted to participate. Murph is done on Memorial Day in honor of LT. Michael P. Murphy (SEAL). If you have ever seen the movie Lone Survivor, you know his story. I recruited Kayla and Caryle so I didn’t have to suffer alone! Here’s the workout:
It was probably the hardest workout I’ve ever done. I do modified pull-ups with a band under one foot and didn’t use body armor. While we were running, I was trying to decide if I could even make a mile in a 20 pound vest. The pull-ups were the hardest part for me because I never do those outside of CrossFit. Finishing that workout felt awesome-and sweaty. I think I had sweat dripping from my ponytail.
This was Kayla’s first CrossFit workout EVER and she rocked it.
In all honesty, it was painful to raise our arms for this photo.
It was a great way to start Memorial Day and as I was considering doing that workout in a 2o pound vest, I was thinking how hardcore he must have been. Grateful to be an American and for those who have given their lives to protect mine.
